Bypass our Recommendations to Update any Page on Your Site

One of my personal favorite ways to interact with RivalFlow came on as a later addition. While our ActionStream is the first thing you’ll encounter in the platform and an excellent starting point, my go-to method bypasses this and dives straight into selecting a specific page or keyword. This is "Pick a Page."

Here’s how you can make the most of RivalFlow by focusing on pages you care about, leveraging competitor analysis, and fine-tuning your keyword strategy.

We have steps here on how to to use the Pick a Page feature--and answers to questions you might have. Below, I'm sharing why I like this custom option and when it might be the better way for you to go when you're improving your own pages.

First, Understand the ActionStream

When you log into RivalFlow, the first thing you’ll see is the ActionStream. We’ve put a lot of thought into making it actionable, giving you tailored recommendations to improve your content. These are designed to get you quick wins that should pay off with a strong increase in impressions and clicks because of where you're positioned.

But, if you already know the page you want to work on, you can skip this and head straight to the Pick a Page feature.

Mike’s Favorite Approach, For Good Reason

The Pick a Page feature lets you quickly home in on specific pages or keywords that need improvement. For instance, on SpyFu (my site), this feature lists top-performing SEO pages, excluding the homepage. It does the same for your site--listing your pages and primary competitive keywords that they rank for. From here, you can choose a page and let RivalFlow recommend the best competitors for comparison.

More Layers of Customization and Control

Now that you picked your page to work on, RivalFlow analyzes the best ways to update that page. Remember that primary keyword that was listed? We look at the SERP for that keyword--the SERP that you're likely trying to climb--and find a strong, relevant competitor page that outranks you. We also want to make sure that this page has a good amount of varied text on it, not a product page for example.

Here's where you can still make adjustments. You can choose a different competitor altogether from that SERP. We'll take your new selection and generate actionable insights based on the new page.

Yes, You Can Target a Keyword Instead

What if you’re optimizing for a specific keyword like "Google Keyword Planner?" That might be the case if you have a few different pages with a similar topic and want to find the strongest contender to rank for that search. Or, you aren't sure if any of your pages have that as a primary focus. Either way, RivalFlow lets you type the keyword into the search bar to find pages that rank for similar terms. Even if the keyword isn’t in the title or URL, the tool identifies content ranking for related terms based on Google’s search vectors.

Why This Works

RivalFlow leverages key search vectors: if Google acknowledges your authority on specific topics, then keep building on that. Instead of fighting against the algorithm, RivalFlow simply makes the most out of all of those signals in your favor. Be sure that you're linking your site's other pages that rank for similar keywords. By linking high-performing pages to your target content and vice versa, you can create a network that boosts your overall SEO performance.
